About Bret L Taylor Design
Our Story
Bret received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History, Criticism and Conservation and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toledo. This foundation in understanding human needs, aesthetic and physical composition was the perfect preparation for a foundation in interior design.
He opened his namesake firm in 2008 and in 2014 he opened the 5140 shop, a full-service interior design + curated home furnishings boutique, in Andersonville, a neighborhood of Chicago. He was acting Creative Director for Mitchell Black, a Chicago based wallpaper and artwork company and was the Name sake for “City Collection” collaboration. After relocating to New York, he joined Foster Reeve and Associates: Architectural and Ornamental Plaster, as the V.P. of Business Development, where he strived to promote excellence through advocacy and reverence of a time-honored product enhanced by modern advancements. In 2022 Bret decided to go back to his roots and focus on full service interior design.
